I know far too many people in this world, who are extremely talented in many different mediums and do not use their talents as a way to be successful in this society.
Ever since a very young age I knew I was some sort of artist. I always loved making things, painting, coloring, learning new ideas, it was my favorite.
When you are young, your parents say something like "what do you want to be when you grow up?" At that age I was most likely to say "pop star" or "surgeon" or "veterinarian." As we mature, our parents expect us to have a clearer answer of the direction we see ourself going towards.
I didn't always know photography was my answer, my life. Taking photographs was fun and a way to fill my time with something artsy and using the side of my brain I clung to most. As you can imagine, I found out rather quickly that although being a surgeon would be honorable, it wasn't quite my thing. So, I went to fine arts school, I practiced and studied everything there is to know about drawing and painting and sculpting etc...
After school I realized pictures were my passion and all other mediums I worked with went to the way side. I would occasionally revert to painting as a way to de-stress when I hadn't a model or subject for photos. Now I have realized something very important, if you're an artist, you CAN do it all and you should!
There is a fantastic website called "Etsy" where you can let your creativity be known! You can explore other shops and create your own where you can display your works of art or maybe even some vintage treasures.
Most artists probably would agree Etsy is an amazing beginning for artists to see how their work is responded by others. I have my very own shop where I post works of Fashion, Home decor, Prints, drawings, and much more. Please feel free to check out my shop! Look up "Lexajohnsonphoto" to see all my works of art! Thanks to everyone who follows! Let your creative side emerge! -A.J.P.
